Physical qualities for different lines of Arabians?
I have 2 Arabian mares. One is Russian (dam) and Egyptian Related (sire). The other is the opposite. I know the Russian line started with horses from the Crabbet stables in England.
Does anyone know or notice a difference in the conformation of the lines of Arabians? Like are Crabbets stockier than Straight Egyptians or the Polish have a more dished head?
There are very few Arabians in this area and I have nothing to compare to. I have only been able to find about 10 in the area and they are where my girls come from so it is not a good cross section to analyze.
I know it often depends on the characteristics of the sire and dam but wondering if there are pronounced qualities for each line.
i grew up in germany. arabians are the no 2 breed used for hack stables and lesson stables. They use mostly polish arabians, they are much more thoroughbred like than the egyptians. everything about them is longer...their necks backs and legs. they do not have the beautiful dished face like an egyptian. they are taller and can reach up to 16 hands. it was always a happy day when i got to ride one of the arabians , instead of the fjord ponies or the big holsteiners. I loved them! they were light to ride and had wonderful smooth gaits:) the egyptians look really typy, but i have never been around them before.
