horse brands, is what my friend told me true?
my friend said in a horse show, such as dressage , if a horse has a brand you'd get a lower score because of it.
to me it sounds crazy but I just want to know, do some shows mark off due to brands? like smaller shows, ect
I thought so due to a lot of purebred regesterys but I know some small show judges mark off on what they like and some people don't like the look of a brand

That is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard! In low level shows it is not marked down nor frowned upon! This person must have heard this out of context! Now days you can get micro chipping which is a brand but just not visible all international competing horses have to have one! What use to happen at top level dressage (grand prix) and top level showing was they would get the brand put on the back of the horse so when ridden at big international events the judge doesn't see a branding. This happened back when they didn't have micro chipping for horses or it wasn't compulsory. So they have micro chipping which to the naked eye is undetectable so it acts as an invisible brand! I personally know many people who have picked up Off the Track TB with big ugly brandings that say they are the 211 foal born at that stud and have seen them win royal shows! At low level shows you have nothing to worry about!
