Arbors Houston - Decorating with Arbors Houston Texas Style
Houston has a great design community and there are no strangers here to decorating with arbors. Each decorator has his or her own taste and professional opinions on what is appropriate. However when figuring out where and what to do with your new arch you sometimes need to call in a professional. With all of the many types of arbors and arches to choose from let's explore some of these options.
Houston, TX is one of my most favorite cities in the state of Texas. When I was a child I took my first trip there and got to experience the Houston Space Center. It was such a treat. Since then I have been returning to Houston on a regular basis to see what new things it has to offer. The design culture of Houston is in constant change as new fads are always coming and going but the basics have remained the same. The design culture of the state of Texas as a whole is greatly influenced by the country of Mexico because of their close location to the country. It has a western feel with bulls, horses, and lots of rust. This western appeal is reflected in the gardens and homes of Houston residents.
Houston is a relatively dry area which is good for wrought iron products but there are many different types of materials that can be used for the construction of arbors and arches. Smaller homes with large rear decks or patios cab benefit greatly from adding a trellis shade arbor. Remember to keep in mind the placement in relation to the sun or the shading boards will not protect you from the afternoon sun. Another benefit of this type of arbor is growing grapes. It is high enough for the greenery to absorb the most sun and let the fruit hand down within reaching distance. Another type of arbor is the walkway arbor which is usually placed as an entryway into a garden or zen area. They make great focal points and are often used with water gardens. Picking an archway with a rustic design and some latticework it is possible to give it a dual purpose making it a trellis. Live vine growing plants will love to make this their new home adding a incredible show of color during certain seasons depending on what you plant.
Regardless of how you choose to use your new arbor and arch. Keep in mind that Houston is country and rustic and its design flares are greatly inspired by mexican culture.
