Could someone give me info or websites about spotted saddle horses?
I am looking at getting a spotted saddle horse, but I have never had one, so I don't know anything about them. Are they gaited? How do you show them in halter classes? What should their headset be when riding them? Any info would be appreciated. thanks
hudson, i am not lazy. I just thought someone on here could give me some advice that i wouldn't have found on the internet.
They are a branch off of the rocky mountain horse that allows Paints. I think they closed their books but for a while the only requirements for registration were white above the knees (I think it had to be on body or legs above the knees) and gaited. In this respect it was much looser than the rockies which had a size a requirement and also would not allow any horse with white on it above the knee.
Almost all gaited horses show with a high head set. This is to make them look pretty and has nothing to do with the gait (unlike the common misconception). The only exception to this that I know of is the versatility shows of the Missouri Fox trotter which want a head set which depends on the job the horse is doing (cattle penning requires a low head set and trails a medium, etc.).
Halter classes would involve teaching them to stand square (I do not believe they stretch or 'park out' the Spotted Saddle as the do the Tennessee Walker
If you want a paint horse with a gait and the opportunity for better shows try a Missouri Fox Trotter. Many are beautifully painted. The Fox trotter has more shows at least around here than any of the other gaited breeds. Of course we are in the heart of Fox Trotter country (the headquarters is less than an hour away and it is the state horse of Missouri) so you would have to look locally.

I have a rescue but i haven't been doing it long enough to get a reputation either way...Well it seem like I'm the rescue pregnant mares end up at...I'll check around and check out their paperwork to. I'm still getting paperwork together for non profit, I'm privately funded now. Everyone i have been to has made me questioned the way they doing things, or they do things that dont seem right for a rescue to do. Make sure you check them really well first.
If you want to write about a process nightmare, check out the paperwork to start a non profit 501(c)(3), in fact print it and try to fill it out yourself...I can see why you need a Lawyer...

Frame barns and pole buildings Post
About beams
There are many manufacturers who specialize in the construction pole barn (post-frame buildings), and although different manufacturers use different techniques, the idea of a pole barn is basically the same. The typical pole barn is built with pressure treated posts set on the ground (about 48 "below the level soil). Messages from most bans polo are usually spaced 8 feet on center. Apart from these positions you are fixing 2x4 24 "(the coating is attached to these poles 2x4), double 2x12 headers to support armor and straps 2x4 (or plywood) on top of beams supporting the material coverage. pole barn is probably the least face and the best way to build a beautiful building (garage, barn or other building). If you are looking for a small building can not afford to hire a contractor, you can have a handyman, perhaps with the help of his friends - will be at least 1 auxiliary aid to build the framework and 2 to set the beams above.
If you have enough money to hire a contractor or have simply no time to build the same team, so you must find the right contractor for the job. If you're like me, or like most people, you want to spend as little as possible and strengthen the barn as pleasant as possible. Well, that's what we all want, but do not always work well. Have you ever heard the saying "greedy paid twice? Being in the construction industry for some time, I personally know several clients who have "tried to save "at each site excavation, foundation or other work, which makes their" friends "or" someone they know "to do the job. You know what? These customers end up paying more appointments that we are given their" friends "do the job properly and is due back to the excavation (how can you build a building site that is 2 'or 3' level?) or set the foundation. The conclusion if you want to keep your friends, do not hire them.
What to look for in a quality built Pole Barn
Consider these options and features of your pole barn
1. "Perma-Columns - Instead of placing their messages on the floor, You can now select the columns of concrete to prevent any possibility of rotting posts. Perma-A column is essentially a column of concrete made top with a metal U-shaped These columns go to the concrete floor and wooden poles are placed on top of these columns and brackets screwed into shape U See www.permacolumns.com for more information. Note, Post barns built at a cost of over Perma-Columns. Make plans to spend $ 120 - $ 150 more per seat).
2. Glue laminated posts - Instead of using regular 4x6 or 6x6 pressure treated posts have a tendency to twist, crack and bow, glue lam-posts are stronger and have much less likely to have a twist or a bow. Different sizes of glu-lam positions are available on the market. For smaller buildings, can use 3 or 4 layers of 2x6 posts, tall buildings and large who need to use 3 or 4 layers of 2x8 posts. Another advantage of laminated posts is just down the messages are processed (in If you decide to put them on the ground)
3. Bracing Proper Use - Be sure that your pole barn is built with appropriate reinforcements. Tell your builder to install the keys and side keys armor if you want your barn to withstand winds. Installation of metal hurricane ties is also a good idea, especially in areas prone to hurricanes. Believe it or not, some manufacturers do not care not to install wire mesh or side braces to save money. If all you ever seen a pole barn collapsed after strong winds, is probably due to poor bracing techniques used.
4. Use reflective Insulation and Ventilation Ridge - Now I know you do not want to spend more than you have to do, but believe me, reflective insulation under the metal roof will help keep your building cooler in the hot days of summer. Therefore, it would be the installation of the ridge ventilation. If you do not know what is the reflection of insulation, just Google and find all the information you need.
5. Overhangs - By all means, please use Excel in your barn or other building structure. I do not know about you, but I personally I do not can not look stable and have no projections. Honestly, looks like shit. Note that some manufacturers include overhanging eaves in its budget but not in the gables. For the projections in the pediments, they will be fresher.
6. Compare Construction - Do not be too happy when the manufacturer is the lowest price for the pole barn. Beware of vendors and companies that get the hook with a price "cheap" and start Additional charge for different functions and options that should have been included in the price first. If this happens, you forget why manufacturer. Result Finally, compare the construction specifications and features, not just price.

Is it legal to sell tickets to my show and give free drinks?
Well, I see people ask questions about the clubs. And I know you need a liscense and alcohol borne by the City and requirements of the State. Say you're a dj and want to create a club, but wants to avoid legal. Can you sell tickets to see and barrels for the customer? Obviously, you do not strap drilling system for controlling beverage. I know that only you can rent a room, but not beable to bring enough people to cover the costs. Can I rent a place (and not just a farm room or field) and sell tickets to your DJ and offer non-alcoholic beverages until exhaustion?
No liquor license, no alcohol. Period.

Saving the Ranch $39.5 With land values skyrocketing and cattle prices falling, ranchers across the American West are seeking to capitalize on a lifetime of stewardship. The solution for many comes in the form of a conservation easement--a voluntary legal agreement that permanently protects the conservation values of a property by limiting or restricting future development. Saving the Ranch is a concise and readable guide to conservation easements for ranchers, conservationists, and developers concerned with protecting the natural and scenic values of ranch lands in the western United States. The book shows how ranchers can reduce estate taxes, generate and shelter income, and combine land conservation with estate planning. Case studies explore how conservation easements have been used, helping readers to understand the variety of circumstances under which easements can be effective. Throughout the book, photographs, maps, and illustrations bring to life the examples presented and the situations described. Saving the Ranch gives ranchers the information they need to continue their stewardship of natural resources while identifying and capturing the conservation value of their land. It is an essential new work for anyone concerned with protecting the integrity of ranch lands and helping ranching survive as a way of life in the American West. |

Ghost Ranch $45 For more than a century, Ghost Ranch has attracted people of enormous energy and creativity to the high desert of northern New Mexico. Occupying twenty-two thousand acres of the Piedra Lumbre basin, this fabled place was the love of artist Georgia O'Keeffe's life, and her depictions of the landscape catapulted Ghost Ranch to international recognition. Building on the history of the Abiquiu region that she told in Valley of Shining Stone, Ghost Ranch historian Lesley Poling-Kempes now unfolds the story of this celebrated retreat. She traces its transformation from el Rancho de los Brujos, a hideout for legendary outlaws, to a renowned cultural mecca and one of the Southwest's premier conference centers. First a dude ranch, Ghost Ranch became a magical sanctuary where the veil between heaven and earth seemed almost transparent. Focusing on those who visited from the 1920s and '30 until the 1990s, Poling-Kempes tells how O'Keeffe and others-from Boston Brahmin Carol Bishop Stanley to paleontologist Edwin H. Colbert, Los Alamos physicists to movie stars--created a unique community that evolved into the institution that is Ghost Ranch today. For this book, Poling-Kempes has drawn on information not available when Valley of Shining Stone was written. The biography of Juan de Dios Gallegos has been enhanced and definitively corrected. The Robert Wood Johnson (of Johnson & Johnson) years at Ghost Ranch are recounted with reminiscences from family members. And the memories of David McAlpin Jr. shed light on how the Princeton circle that included the Packs, the Johnson brothers, the Rockefellers, and the McAlpins ended up as summer neighbors on the high desert of New Mexico. After Arthur Pack'sgift of the ranch to the Presbyterian Church in 1955, Ghost Ranch became a spiritual home for thousands of people still awestruck by the landscape that O'Keeffe so lovingly committed to canvas; yet the care taken to protect Ghost Ranch's land and character has preserved its sense of intimacy. By relating its remarkable story, Poling-Kempes invites all visitors to better appreciate its place as an honored wilderness-and to help safeguard its future. |

Ranch War $5.99 Bloodlands . . . It seems when a lady's called "Calamity," chaos follows wherever she goes -- even to the mostly peaceful railroad town of Mulrooney, Kansas. Martha Jane Canary's always been free as the prairie wind, tied to no place or person, so she never expected to inherit a hardscrabble ranch that other folks have been working. She might have even ignored the legal summons to claim her property . . . if someone hadn't tried to kill her first. Now, whether she wants the spread or not, Jane's going to fight for what's hers -- taking on bushwackers, crooked lawyers . . . and a woman with a cold and greedy heart, and a plan to steal Jane's land with bullets and brutality. But Calamity's got an ally -- a baby-faced Texas gun called the Ysabel Kid -- not to mention stony courage, a strong and sure whip hand . . . and a mule-stubborn willingness to lay down her life for what's right. |
