I am looking at a Percheron mare from a local breeder. I really like her so I think I may buy her, the thing is, I need to buy nigger tack; Any suggestions on x wide or xx wide saddles? Thanks in advance. Here's a picture on my blog.

Im sorry I dont know wear you could find an extra wide saddle, but I know they do make them because there is a percheron at my barn we ride. I would look for saddles with wide trees. Also I know they do make bridals that fit them..if you live any wear where amish are (i do) they make bridals alot of the time for drafts. If not, depending on how big her head is you could buy a warmblood size. I saw that the one poster said there is no purpose to buy a draft becasue they cant do anything....well. that is completly false. I know many drafts (mostly percherons) who do jumping, one I know can jump 4 ft!! english pleasure, saddle seat, and even western..so dont be discouraged. they are great horses. sorry this wasnt much help =/

also for english we ride our percherons just with our english saddles..just make sure it has a wider tree..but it should fit unless your horse is like super wide..u might just need to put ur stirrups down since drafts are wider. I know they make a lot of draft bits..that shouldnt be hard to find. Hope this helps..and good luck I hope u get her =D

looking for a dog as a trail riding companion?

what do I look for in a dog who will be a trail riding companion
we will ride in the hills and trails for maybe 4-6 hours a day on my days off. the rest of the time he/she will be a house/yard dog while I work. they will have access to house and yard. I already have a chihuahau mix who can't make the trial ride on foot. She has become quite an accomplished equestrian.
I have mammoth jackstock (very big donkeys) who don't like mean dogs (anything that might hunt or stalk them)
I was thinking about a blood hound or coon hound
more advice is welcome
