Top 5 Reasons to Change Jobs
Good economic conditions bring with them booming business, increased workloads and good cheer for most companies. They also bring with them increased attrition rates and higher mobility among employees. In a good job market, there will always be a large number of people who would be willing to change jobs.
However, a good job market is not the only reason for a change in jobs. Jobs In A Jiffy has compiled a list of the top 5 reasons why an employees chooses to leave his current employment.
Higher Pay
The most obvious and often cited reason for a job change is for higher pay. Most respondents to our questions felt that they get a bigger salary hike when they move to a company than they would get in their current employer's performance appraisal. Though it is debatable if money is the sole reason for an employee quitting, but we can safely say that it is one of the prime motivators.
Promotion and More Responsibility
All employees strive to move up the corporate ladder. This is not merely for the higher pay check but also for the opportunity to handle more responsibility. At these stages, an employee can more visibly see his contribution to the organization. He is responsible not only for his own work but also for managing, motivating and getting the best out of his team. If an employee feels his career getting stagnated in his present organization, he will look to jump ships so as to fulfil his ambitions.
Location and Relocation
The place where an employee works or where his office is located causes quite a few job change decisions. Some are simple – the need to move to a particular city or region – termed as relocation – for reasons like marriage or family. Others are motivated by complex factors like work-life balance, difficult commute and accessibility issues. In these cases, an employee seeks to join an organization whose work location is better suited to his convenience.
Change Fields
After working in a chosen field for some years, an employee begins to feel the need to change fields. A person might want to change from a technical job to a more people oriented one. Though most employers support such employees by accommodating them in the organization, others are not in a position to do so. At such times, an employee has to find another employer who is willing to use his transferable skills in a different work profile.
Work Environment
This is one of the reasons often quoted by employees and experts alike for high attrition rates. It is also the reason most difficult to quantify and define. Work environment can broadly be defined social and professional environment in which you are supposed to interact with a number of people. This includes colleagues including subordinates and seniors, office policies and work infrastructure amongst others. These factors can motivate an employee and increase productivity or they could demoralize him and force a job change.
If an employer wants to minimize his attrition rates, he should try to address the above areas of employee concerns. This might involve short-term expenses but will result in tremendous long-term benefits for all.

Why the Wooden Rocking Horse Is Far More Than Just a Toy
The wooden rocking horse has been a huge part of many children's childhoods for centuries. Although many other toys have come and gone throughout the years, rocking horses have remained popular. They attract children of all ages and are perfect for simple yet effective role playing games. Playtime is essential for all children, and allowing them to use their imaginations is a great building block in their lives.
Although they are considered to be a child's toy, many adults love the way they look, and some have even become collector's items. Horses have always played a huge part in history, and are admired by everyone. They have been used to transport goods, to allow knights to go into war, and for recreational pleasure time. Toy horses have been played with for hundreds of years, and were originally placed on wheels to allow children to joust with them. However, wooden rocking horses became very popular and by the 17th century the design and style was being adapted.
The original design was very simple, and the rocking horses were placed on the rockers from cradles. The designs were very varied with some being very crude and basic, and others being elegant and spectacular. They were often made by carpenters in the early days, and the ornamental ones were the toys of royalty. A wooden rocking horse would be seen in many nurseries in upper class houses, and homes of the rich. A great deal of time and money was invested into the more expensive rocking horses. They would often have flowing manes, with actual leather saddles and bridles, the details and artwork was incredible.
The most popular color of the wooden rocking horse was dapple grey; this was believed to be because Queen Victoria chose this color for her own rocking horse. In the late 19th century the popularity of these toys had risen so much that the production was moved to factories. Although many of the wooden rocking horses made today are generic; there are, however, still some old fashioned rocking horse makers available. Personalized and expectedly detailed, handcrafted rocking horses are the ideal gift for any small child.
However, the materials that are used today are often plastic or stuffed fabric horses. The designs and styles of the rocking horses has developed and adapted. The colors have varied and there are even themed ones available. Cowboy horses are very popular, and although different from the original design, they are still a rocking horse at heart. These modern alternatives are very popular, and far cheaper than the traditional wooden designs.
However, even in the world we live in today with all of the modern technology, if a child sees a rocking horse they are immediately drawn to it. They make ideal gifts for children, and big kids who still have a passion for the beautiful craftsmanship that goes into every wooden rocking horse. They can often be found online, or in antique shops. Very old authentic rocking horses are expensive, but it is fantastic to have a piece of history, that can be enjoyed as well as admired.

Profitable Betting Systems for Horseracing $19.99 Can you beat the bookies with a system? Ricky Taylor thinks you can and puts science and maths to work and comes up with some often startlingly profitable methods. His systems are not complex and he keeps things simple and bases his methods around fundamental form factors that most professional punters would agree are the key to picking winners. Profitable Betting Systems for Horseracing contains many novel and intriguing systems for both flat and jump racing, including those based around a horse's recent form and class. You will also discover why it pays to follow certain trainers in particular types of race, and why big profits can be earned by studying a horse's pedigree. Studying the betting market can be a profitable source of systems, and the book also details a number of methods that exploit weaknesses in other punter's reasoning - must reading for those who like to back and lay horses on the exchanges. And for those of you that like to bet horses at fancy prices, there are examples of the circumstances to look for when you can win big by betting long-shots. Profitable Betting Systems for Horseracing doesn't just spell out winning methods; it also explains how you can develop your own successful systems. So if you want to start betting profitably on systems then read this book first. |

Horseracing Tips For Beginners - You Have to Understand the Bookmakers Book!
For those new to horse racing there is a lot to learn, and there is a whole world of horseracing tips and do's and don'ts that you need to learn to stay on the road to profit and to enjoy making money betting on horse racing.
One of the key things that you must understand is how any bookmaker creates his or her 'book' and how that may effect the way that you approach your betting. The 'book' is simply the term used to describe the prices that the bookmakers create on any one horse race or any potential sports activity or betting market!
So when you watch horse racing on the television and you see the chalk boards (digital mostly these days) that display all of the prices on course for that race, these odds all make up a bookmakers book.
To the untrained eye there may seem nothing amiss, however you need to be warned that there is, so consider this one of today's most valuable horseracing tips! Something that every single person betting on horse racing or any bet for that matter would do well to learn as quickly as possible - the dreaded overround!
To calculate any horses price back in to a percentage is very easy to do, and goes like this.
100 = The fair percentage of actual 100 % probability
A= Profit of win return (Say the 6 in the odds 6/4)
B= Stake required (Say the 4 in the odds 6/4)
100 Divided by (A+B) = Multiplied then by B = % Chance
For example 6/4 = (100/10)x4 = 40% Therefore the price 6/4 = 40%
If you do this calculation you will realise that any race or event when betting with the same bookmaker will show an overround figure (greater than 100). By calculating this for any given race you can see how much of an advantage or margin the bookmaker has. Less runners with a low overround is of less risk than a race with more runners and a high overround.
In a four horse race, a bookmaker may choose to price up each horse at odds of 3/1. In this book, were he to take equal amounts of money on each horse, he would break even, as each horse would have a 25% chance of winning. In that the five runners have combined implied "probabilities" of winning of exactly 100%, this book has no overround. Long term the bookmaker would not be in profit as there is zero profit built in to this book.
In a four horse race, a bookmaker is more likely to price up each horse at odds of 5/2. In this book, were he to take equal amounts of money on each horse, he would make a profit of 14.3% on turnover.
Therefore to do this all the bookmaker has to do is create their book with prices for all selections that include a built in overround margin. As the money comes in prices are adjusted accordingly to that this overround is protected. There are instances where a really well backed favourite will lose the bookmaker money on one race. However long term, just like casino's the bookmakers have probability and the odds stacked in their favour!
The one thing to note is that the bookmakers advantage is increased in relation to how many horses or indeed viable selections there are to bet on. This creates a higher overround and in a race like the Grand National can help the bookmakers to potentially larger profit margins. So understanding that in theory their advantage is reduced with less runners, you now know therefore that you stand a higher probability of profit betting in races with less runners.

Horses For Courses - Rosehill
My last article showed quite clearly that Moonee Valley is a 'horses for courses' track and today I'm going to look at Rosehill and find out whether the same principle applies there.
The home of the Golden Slipper has a track circumference of 2,048 metres and the 408 metre straight generally means that all horses get their chance wherever they are in the run.
So how 'true' is the form there and what is the record of those horses that are in the market? Here are the Rosehill stats (based on NSW TAB prices) for the 700+ races from 2006 to date:
Favourite -7% Profit on Turnover
2nd Fave -14% POT
3rd Fave -15% POT
4th Fave +3% POT
So -8% overall which is better than the -13% recorded across all tracks Australia-wide during this same time frame. While the performance of the 4th favourite stands out in the results above, this is likely to be a statistical anomaly because the 5th fave lost 24% on turnover and the 6th fave lost 13%.
The statistics show that track experience at Rosehill is definitely an advantage. Horses that haven't started at the track previously lost 12% on turnover, whereas those that had already raced at Rosehill lost just 3%. Remember these figures are based only on NSW TAB dividends so using Best Tote or Betfair could put you into a profit-making position quite quickly.
The results for the different track conditions don't reveal any definitive pattern:
Good -8%
Dead -9%
Slow +2%
Heavy -19%
(Only 91 races were held on a heavy track so I won't draw too much of a conclusion on such a small number). One other stat did stand out though and that is simply backing the favourite at Rosehill on a good track produced a 37% winning strike-rate for 5% profit on turnover. That's a pretty solid record from more than 400 qualifying races.
There were no major differentials for the various Rosehill distances other than backing the first four in the market over the Rosehill 1100 made a small profit. But again it's important not to draw absolute conclusions from relatively small sample sizes.
The best performing jockeys at Rosehill wouldn't surprise too many people: Blake Shinn, Darren Beadman, Glen Boss, Glyn Schofield, Hugh Bowman, Jeff Lloyd and Tim Clark.
However the names on the worst performing Rosehill jockeys might: Corey Brown, Danny Beasley, Danny Nikolic, Jimmy Cassidy and Rod Quinn.
The best performing Rosehill trainers include Chris Waller, David Payne, Bart Cummings, John O'shea and Joe Pride.
The trainers whose horses are generally overbet and under the odds at Rosehill are Guy Walter, Gerald Ryan, John Hawkes, Kevin Moses and Peter Snowden
Overall I think it's fair to say that just like Moonee Valley, the 'horses for courses' approach well and truly applies to Rosehill as well.
